Thursday, December 20: For the Non-Christmas Crowd

This week's Weekend: visiting houses of worship where they're not celebrating Christmas. Also, a bunch of new posts on the blog this week.

Thursday, December 13: Xmas Markets, NY1, Globo.com

Sunday's column, on New York's Christmas markets, is online now. (See if you can guess what I got for my nephews.) I'll be on NY1 talking about it at 10 PM Sat. and 10 AM Sun. ALSO: I just came across a Portuguese translation on Globo.com of my House and Home section piece on Second Life.

Friday, December 7: Queens

This coming Sunday's column, about why Queens is worth a visit, is already online, with a new video. I'll be talking about both on NY1's New York Times Close Up this Saturday at 10 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. Oh yeah, and forgot to mention it before, but I did last Sunday's Why We Travel interview, with a wacky first-time snowboarder from Bangalore.

Thursday, November 29: Chocolate Mania, BBC Brasil, NY1

Here's my latest video, about NYC's best hot chocolate. The column that accompanies it is out early, too. Also out today, Brazilian journalist Lucas Mendes's BBC Brasil column on...me and my love of farofa. Alas, it's in Portuguese. Finally, I'll be on New York Times Close Up with Sam Roberts this Saturday at 10 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. on NY1. (That one's in English.)

Local Beers: Glasses White With Foam is the new column, and I also did the Why We Travel caption. Also: lots of new stuff on the Clips pages.

Brazilian TV Appearence on November 25

I will be making my first lusophone* television appearance as the guest on the popular (or so they tell me) Brazilian show Manhattan Connection. It's on GNT this Sunday, Nov. 25 at 11 p.m. and appears to be repeated four times Monday as well. The schedule is here.

*have always wanted to use the word lusophone!

The "Affordable Caribbean" package online has my pieces on and photos of the Dominican Republic (article and slideshow) and Curacao (article and slideshow). (The online versions of the articles are much longer than the print edition ones.) There's also a cool interactive map for each.

I have a piece on the bars of Belo Horizonte, a cool city in Brazil way off the usual tourist trail.

And my column is on Dominican New York, one of my favorite high-cholesterol topics. This week, it comes with a video, the first in what will hopefully be a series to accompany the column..
